MIS Alumni Spring Mixer & Happy Hour – April 24

Posted April 8th, 2010 in General, Spring2010 by admin

It’s that time of the semester. Instead of the same old V-bar, we’ve come up something new and fresh! We will be hosting this event at Gordon Biersch in Downtown San Jose.

So come join us at Gordon Biersch. Meet with your MIS classmates, professors, alums and soon-to-be alums! And of-course G.B. legendary garlic fries!

Department chair Dr. Tim Hill will be buying a pint each for the alum who 1) drives farthest to get there, 2) has the oldest graduation date, and 3) has the best story about a former professor (that won’t get them a reprimand!).

Hope to see you all there!

When: Saturday, April 24, 2010, , 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Where: Gordon Biersch (33 East San Fernando Street San Jose, CA 95113)

Fall 2009 semester has begun!

Posted August 24th, 2009 in Fall2009, General by admin

Greetings,

I hope everybody has had a great summer! With this new year comes lots of exciting new changes. First of all, I’d like to welcome all of the new officers, as well as the returning ones. Take a look at them.

New this semester is an online registration system to join. Simply choose your preferred payment gateway on the right and make note of your transaction or order numbers and enter them into the form here. Of course, if you would rather sign up in person, that is still an option at our table outside the BBC during rush week. Still on the fence about joining? Take a look at the benefits that come with membership.

I look forward to another exciting semester!

Mandatory Meeting for Potential Officers Next Semester

Posted May 16th, 2009 in General, Spring2009 by admin

Hello everyone,

If you have submitted an application, or are interested in becoming an MISA officer next semester, there will be a meeting at 7:30pm on Thursday May 21st at the BBC Board Room (Lower Level). MISA advisers Professor Burkhard and Aggarwal will be present. This is the perfect opportunity for you to state why you think you should be an officer.

Sincerely,

William Lumabas

Thank you everyone

Hello everyone,

MISA officers and I would like to thank everyone who attended Wednesday’s Bowling Event. The turn out was great, and it looked like everyone had a good time. We hope that the events this semester were fun for those of you who attended and has given you more incentive to re-join next semester. As my previous post stated, if you’re interested in joining the officer board, please print out the application and hand it to an officer or adviser. We will make sure to take all applicants into consideration.

Finally, it’s of sad news that Kaity, Aura, Ali, David Lee and myself will not be returning to MISA next semester, as we are all graduating. We all believe that MISA is important for all students in the SJSU MIS program to join, and we are glad to have met all of you during the course of our time in MISA. With returning members next semester and good word-of-mouth spreading about the organization, the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters were only the beginning of great things to come in the near future.

So from all of us MISA officers, we wish everyone one of you good luck on finals, and have a wonderful summer.

Sincerely,

William Lumabas

New Officers

Hi everyone,

Next semester, MISA will have a few officer openings. We’re currently taking in applications for those interested. Please click here to access the form to print and fill out. Once you have filled out the form, please turn it in to any MISA officer you see on campus. If you are unable to find any of us, then just hand the form to one of our advisors: Professors Leslie Albert, Nitin Aggarwal, and Richard Burkhard.

Thanks, and we hope to be hearing from some of you soon.
